The Lost Story of Emmett Till evolved into a 3 part documentary, first starting with The Universal Child after which including the follow up special Then & Now and concluding with Trial in the Delta.
I was the the design lead for each of the three projects which involved creating the show looks, title opens, editor toolkits and promotional trailers along with on-air commercial spots.
The above slides showcase the different design elements & typography used for the promotional trailer, show title and in-show lower thirds & supers.
The elements used in regard to the repeating scratch textures and claw grunge overlays are meant to depict the struggle and horrific nature of the brutal murder of Emmett Till. The ink overlays and reveals were intentionally chosen to visually pair with the shows purpose which is to uncover and choronical the history of this significant moment of race relations in the country.
